WR Cole Beasly Remains Pretty Confident

The rookie receiver out of SMU believes his quickness may just set him apart from others in camp

In the short time he’s been with the Cowboys, we’ve learned that undrafted free agent Cole Beasley, an SMU product, doesn’t want for any confidence.

A few weeks ago, Beasley went on record as saying he didn’t like being compared to Wes Welker, because he’s faster than the four-time All-Pro receiver. Never mind that Beasley has yet to record a reception in the NFL, the 5-foot-8 receiver remains confident as he prepares for the race for a roster spot--a race that will begin in earnest on Monday, when Dallas opens training camp in Oxnard, Ca.

I can’t have any days off,’’ Beasley said, per the Dallas Morning News. “Once you show a weakness, they’re always going to talk about it because you’re a smaller guy. I’m not the prototypical size for the position. I’m way smaller than the prototypical size. But I have some strengths a lot of people don’t have.

“I have a lot of quickness. I don’t think there is anybody out there as quick as me, not just the Cowboys or anywhere else. I’m confident in my abilities to be quicker than everyone else out there.

“That is what I have to utilize.’’
