Votes Are In: DFW Pulling For Bears-Jets Super Bowl

Well, we’ve tallied up the votes, double-checked them, got a bite to eat, and then checked them once more; and, according to your votes, the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex wants to see the Chicago Bears take on the New York Jets at Cowboys Stadium in Super Bowl XLV on February 6.

The Pittsburgh Steelers got a lot of love as well, but most of their fans seemed not to care who they face; which is fine, honorable even, but we couldn’t, in good faith, ask the question “Which two teams do you want to see play in the Super Bowl” and come back with the answer, “Steelers and whoever, we don’t really care.” Wouldn’t be right.

So Bears-Jets it is and the great majority of our readers believe these Bears will emerge victorious. But this was by no means unanimous; some of you want to see LaDainian Tomlinson, a Waco-native and TCU alum, return to North Texas as a member of the AFC Super Bowl representative and eventual champion.

The winner of best comment, an award I just made up and is voted on arbitrarily by me, goes to our Facebook friend Jason, who said, in response to our question: “Bears/Jets. We want teams that travel and SPEND MONEY!!!!!”

Which is dead-on; the Super Bowl will inevitably involve two teams most of the country doesn’t much care about, other than their involvement in that year’s Super Bowl. But money is nice--and that’s something we can all agree on.
