Victor Cruz Has “Zero Doubts” He'll Play in Opener Vs. Cowboys

Cruz suffered a torn patellar tendon last October

When the Dallas Cowboys open up the 2015 season against the New York Giants on Sunday Night Football, Giants receiver Victor Cruz will be ready.

Cruz, who suffered a torn patellar tendon in a loss to the Eagles last October, said as much himself this week.

"There's zero doubts that I'll be playing in that first game," Cruz said this week, per Kevin Patra of NFL.com.

Cruz is still quite limited, six months after the injury--he has been running but he still hasn’t started cutting on the knee yet. Giants general manager Jerry Reese concurred that Cruz is on schedule in his rehab and on track to play in Week 1, but the team’s optimism remains cautious.

"He looked good, he's running pretty good, right now and he's scheduled to be back ready for the opener for us," Reese said. "But until you get out there and turn it loose, you never know what a guy is going to do. But he looks great right now."
