The Dallas Cowboys announced shortly after the 2011 season that Tyron Smith, the team’s first round pick that year, would shift from right to left tackle in 2012, swapping places with Doug Free. This change is a pretty dramatic one, but according to new offensive line coach Bill Callahan, Smith has taken to the left side swimmingly.

"Just having three weeks into this, it's been real positive from that aspect," Callahan said, per the Dallas Morning News. "It'll be interesting to see how Tyron does, but he has been drilling very well."

Of course, “drilling” is the operative word here. Callahan, who came over from the New York Jets this offseason, isn’t going to declare the shift a success until he sees it in a live-action, game scenario.

"With him moving, it's been seamless so far, but we haven't played yet," he said.
