It never fails. Every NFL season about this time, there are a few teams that are outperforming their stock heading into the season, and some teams who are major disappointments through the first few weeks.
Count the two teams that will play at AT&T Stadium on Sunday in the former category, as both the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans are looking the part of postseason teams.
The Texans were 2-14 in 2013, a year after they were a Super Bowl favorite throughout the season. Now, they're 3-1 and have the game's best defensive player along with some aging, yet proven weapons on offense. The Cowboys were 8-8 for a third straight year in 2013 and had a historically bad defense, which was looking to be worse this season. So far, the Cowboys' defense has been more than serviceable. It's actually been pretty good. And that Cowboys' offense has been exactly what it was pumped up to be — a dominant, elite unit that might be the league's best offense on this side of the Denver Broncos.
One of these teams is going to be 4-1 on Sunday evening, and it's hard to imagine many people outside of the respective locker rooms envisioning that for either team.
