Two New Voices Coming To Cowboys Stadium

Games at Cowboys Stadium will have a new soundtrack in 2011.

Roger Emrich, of 105.3 FM The Fan fame, will take over as the stadium’s public address announcer this season--a position left vacant by Jody Dean after two years in the booth, Richie Whitt of the Dallas Observer reports today. According to Whitt, Dean has stepped away from the gig as a result of heart problems and a desire to spend more time with his daughter.

In addition to the new PA announcer, Cowboys’ games in 2011 will feature, for the first time, an “in-game emcee” in Armen Williams--also an employee of 105.3 The Fan, the team’s flagship station.

We’re not exactly sure what the title of “in-game emcee” will entail, but from what we can gather, Williams will be charged with roving the stadium, talking to fans, riling the crowd as the game dictates, etc. Basically, a sort of more energetic version of what Jim Knox does for the Rangers.

As for Emrich, the radio veteran looks forward to getting started on what he describes as a “dream job.”

"Not too much ad-libbing, lots of outright professionalism," Emrich said of his style, per the Observer. "I want to be informing, not a distraction. I'm going to treat this like my dream job. I'm still worried Jody is going to change his mind, so I'm anxious to get started."
