Two names have already emerged in connection with the Dallas Cowboys’ search for longtime secondary coach Jerome Henderson’s replacement, in Tim Lewis and Mike Nolan, and both will reportedly be interviewed for the position in the near future, according to Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Henderson had been the secondary coach since 2012 but, after interviewing for the Browns’ head coaching vacancy and the defensive coordinator job with the Jacksonville Jaguars, he left for the title of defensive passing game coordinator with the Atlanta Falcons.
Lewis spent this season coaching the 49ers defensive backs, and held that job with the Falcons, Seahawks and Panthers. He served as defensive coordinator with the Steelers from 2000 to 2003 and the Giants from 2007 to 2008.
Nolan, the candidate with the most name recognition we’d imagine, was the head coach of the 49ers from 2005 to 2008. Since then, he’s served as defensive coordinator in Denver, Miami and Atlanta. He spent 2015 coaching linebackers in San Diego.
