Every week, we'll grade the Cowboys on the three phases of the weekend's game.
Offense: B-
We were all prepared to throw out a big, ugly D here with a possibilty of an F. Then, Tony Romo saved the day with a surgical game-winning drive with no timeouts that culminated in a game-winning touchdown pass to Jason Witten with seven seconds remaining. The positives: The Cowboys racked up 436 yards and had 27 first downs. The running backs totaled over 200 total yards, though they only rushed for 80. The negatives: They had three turnovers, all of which led directly to Giants points.
Defense: B+
The defense had its moments, thanks in large part to the triumphant return of Sean Lee, who led the team with nine tackles in his first game since 2013. They containted Odell Beckham Jr. and held Eli Manning to less than 200 yards. They also got gashed in the running game at times, especially late when they really needed stops. But in the end, the Cowboys got a huge stop with the help of a bonehead decision by Manning to give Romo the ball back with time.
Special teams: A
Dan Bailey hit two field goals, made all of his new, longer extra points, and Chris Jones had a good night punting the ball. The coverage units also did a good job of limiting the Giants and never giving them great field position to start with.
