The Picks: Steelers at Cowboys

It's not enough to say you're an enormous football fan and then just watch the games or play Fantasy Football every week. You've got to put a little skin in the game, dear readers, and make picks in public that open you up to being ridiculed if things don't go your way. Don't think about the downside, though. Think about the benefits you shall receive when your pigskin prognostications become the stuff of legend! Or just do it because all these other guys are doing it and you've got just as much chance of being right as they do.

Peter King (SI.com) - Steelers 27, Cowboys 12. Bryant's injury and the Steelers' manhandling of the Giants seem to weigh heavier on King's mind than the fact that Pittsburgh just got blown away by the awful Chargers.

ESPN - It's five for the Cowboys and nine for the Steelers up in Bristol. Seth Wickersham and Chris Mortensen, who have the best records in picks on the year, both went with the Cowboys.

Mike Florio and Michael David Smith, Pro Football Talk - Cowboys 27, Steelers 17 (Florio), Cowboys 20, Steelers 13 (MDS).

Yahoo! Sports - Mike Silver and Jason Cole both go for the Cowboys, while Les Carpenter and Yahoo! users like the Steelers.

Pete Prisco, CBSSports.com - Steelers 28, Cowboys 20. Prisco thinks it's likelier that the Steelers bounce back than the Cowboys keep up the good things from last week.

The rest of CBSSports.com - Will Brinson didn't have anyone to sit with him at the CBSSports.com holiday party because they placed people at tables based on their picks for this game and he's the only one who likes the Cowboys.

My Four-Year Old Son - "Definitely the Cowboys because they score touchdowns."

Me - There was plenty to like about the Cowboys last week and absolutely nothing to like about the Steelers, but Ben Roethlisberger should be better in his second week back from injury while it is hard to imagine the Cowboys maintaining the same level of intensity. They rode adrenaline through a very rough weekend and it is tough to do that for an extended period of time, which is why we're going with the Steelers. Steelers 24, Cowboys 21.
