It's not enough to say you're an enormous football fan and then just watch the games or play Fantasy Football every week. You've got to put a little skin in the game, dear readers, and make picks in public that open you up to being ridiculed if things don't go your way. Don't think about the downside, though. Think about the benefits you shall receive when your pigskin prognostications become the stuff of legend! Or just do it because all these other guys are doing it and you've got just as much chance of being right as they do.
Peter King (SI.com) - Cowboys 31, Redskins 23. King likes the Cowboys because of Tony Romo's November record and because they're the home team on a short week. The latter is a bit more tangible than the former, but the reasoning's sound on both fronts.
ESPN - It's a split right down the middle. Seven take the Cowboys, seven take the Redskins and, as with everything on ESPN, everyone yells about it until it is time to talk about Tim Tebow again.
Mike Florio and Michael David Smith, Pro Football Talk - Both guys picked the Cowboys and they picked them by the same 24-20 score. If the score does turn out to be 24-20, we're pretty sure their powers of deduction are being wasted on football.
Yahoo! Sports - Jason Cole takes the Redskins, but everyone else is going with the Cowboys.
Pete Prisco, CBSSports.com - Cowboys 33, Redskins 27. Prisco likes Romo to outplay RG3 with the help of a sound defensive game plan for bottling up the rookie quarterback.
The rest of CBSSports.com - Its another house divided itself. And yet it stands.
Coin Flip (Home Team is Heads) - Redskins (Coin's record: 4-6)
My Four-Year Old Son - "I think the Redskins." "Really? Why?" "No, I mean the Cowboys." "No, it's okay, I just wanted to know why you like the Redskins." "I don't like them. I want the Cowboys."
Me - Griffin has been tough for some teams to stop this season, but he's also had some days where he wasn't able to improvise and that severely limited his ability to put points on the board. The Cowboys defense should be able to limit that and the Redskins defense hasn't stopped anyone other than the Eagles so far this season. Throw in the short week and the travel and, well, you've probably guessed the pick by now. Cowboys 31, Redskins 17. (My record: 6-4)
