The Picks: Lions at Cowboys

It’s that time of week. Time to man up and make your pick for this week’s game. Get it right, and you could soon be invited into a secret underground gambling cabal in Macau, where men bet million dollar hands of blackjack and children are forced to play Russian roulette. It’s a gambler’s paradise, filled with one-eyed poker players and women with noodle carts hand feeding you chow fun as you refuse to leave the table. Get it wrong, and it’s back to gambling at the Golden Nugget in AC for you. Peasant. Here we go:

Peter King: Lions 23, Cowboys 17. Only 24-17 is a less creative score prediction. Gimme some 22s and 15s, Petey!

Seven of Nine ESPN Experts: Cowboys. By the way, Eric Allen abstained from picking any games this week. I hope he didn’t fall down a well or something.

Yahoo! Users: Lions. They don’t show the percentage anymore! WHAT ARE THEY HIDING?!

Pete Prisco (CBS): Cowboys. REBEL!

Andy (Cowboys fan I know): Cowboys 21 (all field goals), Lions 13. (“Never forget the Rib Game.”)

Index Card I Threw Up In The Air With The Name Of Each Team On Either Side, Seeing Which Team Would Land Face Up: Lions. (Card Record: 1-2)

The Wife: Cowboys

Me: Here’s a game begging for a contrarian alert, given that the Cowboys are at home and the Lions, despite their nice start, have lingering issues with both their pass defense AND pass protection. But man alive, who is Tony Romo gonna throw to this week? He can’t throw it to Miles Austin, because he’s out. He probably can’t throw it to Dez Bryant, because he may be out. He can’t throw it to Kevin Ogletree, because he stinks. It’s gonna be 50 passes to Jason Witten and six passes to Laurent Robinson, which will be fun! I think the Cowboys will win this game if DeMarcus Ware successfully puts Matt Stafford on the ground and the Cowboys get a score from either the defense or special teams. I wish I could see the latter happening. I wish I could say this team won’t look bedraggled after barely making it through Monday Night. I can’t. LIONS 31, COWBOYS 10 (2011 picks: 1-2)
