It's not enough to say you're an enormous football fan and then just watch the games or play Fantasy Football every week. You've got to put a little skin in the game, dear readers, and make picks in public that open you up to being ridiculed if things don't go your way. Don't think about the downside, though. Think about the benefits you shall receive when your pigskin prognostications become the stuff of legend! Or just do it because all these other guys are doing it and you've got just as much chance of being right as they do.
Peter King (SI.com) - Falcons 27, Cowboys 24. King doesn't outline his rationale for the pick but does think the Cowboys should have traded for Rams running back Steven Jackson.
ESPN - Merrill Hoge and Ron Jaworski pick the 'Boys, everyone else is going with the Falcons.
Mike Florio and Michael David Smith, Pro Football Talk - Falcons 31, Cowboys 20 (Florio). Falcons 24, Cowboys 21 (MDS).
Yahoo! Sports - All the yahoos from Yahoo! love the Falcons this weekend.
Pete Prisco, CBSSports.com - Falcons 27, Cowboys 21. Prisco thinks Matt Ryan will burnish his MVP credentials on the way to another win.
The rest of CBSSports.com - A couple of CBS folks -- Clark Judge and Jason LaCanfora -- think the Cowboys are going to put an end to Atlanta dreams of an undefeated season.
Coin Flip (Home Team is Heads) - Cowboys (Coin's record: 3-4)
My Four-Year Old Son - "The Falcons." "Why?" "Because they don't lose." "That's true, they haven't lost yet this season." "Really?"
Me - History likes the Cowboys and so do I. There are plenty of reasons to like the Falcons in this game, not the least of which is the way the Cowboys seem to come right up to the edge of winning games before falling off the cliff. The bounce is bound to go their way at some point this year, though, and it might as well be this week. Cowboys 23, Falcons 21. (My record: 4-3)
