Talks Between Brandon Carr, Dallas Ongoing

The Chiefs' free agent cornerback is currently in Dallas meeting with team officials

Discussions between the Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs’ free agent cornerback Brandon Carr reportedly lasted into the wee small hours last night/this morning, and the two sides will continue to talk today, ESPN Dallas’ Calvin Watkins writes today. And with Cortland Finnegan off the market--he struck a five-year, $50 million deal with the Rams on Tuesday--Carr is the last, best option at cornerback in free agency.

The talks could be affected by Finnegan’s deal, which averages $10 million a year for the hot-headed former Titan. Carr will most likely, according to reports, command between $7 and $8 million a year, but we’ll see. Also worth noting is that Carr is two years younger than Finnegan (26-years-old to 28, respectively).

Aside from Dallas, the San Francisco 49ers are reportedly very interested as well, and such interest might be a motivator in the team trying to get a deal done while they still have Carr here in town.
