I’ve documented their staggering inability to advance to even an NFC Championship Game. But a Super Bowl?
Having just concluded a 4-12 season, there’s a whole generation of fans who can’t fathom America’s Team winning a title – much less three in four years.
“I’m the most surprised person in Mobile, or the country, that we haven’t been back to and competed in a Super Bowl,” owner Jerry Jones said during this week’s Senior Bowl practices in Alabama. “But I know firsthand that you can go from the outhouse to the penthouse. And I’ve experienced it. And consequently that fact has always driven me to know that it’s just around the corner. There’s a pony in here somewhere.”
Wait, there’s a what? In where?
For the last 20 seasons it’s been more pigs than ponies. The Cowboys’ last title was so long ago that their head coach was then a backup quarterback.

In 1996 I would’ve bet every penny against that kind of drought.
