The First Annual Katy Trail Speed Golf Tournament will take place on Monday at the Golf Club of Dallas beginning at 8 a.m.
Dallas Cowboys Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman and speed golf world-record holder Christopher Smith will be on hand for this unique event that supports the "Lace Up for the Katy Trail."
The campaign helps provide stability to the operating budget which keeps the Katy Trail well maintained and fully operational.
The speed golf rules allow you to carry as few or as many clubs as you wish as long as the bunkers get raked and you walk on the greens. Just yell your score to the volunteer assigned to the group and if you catch up to the group in front of you, yell "fore!" and play through. Scoring is a combination of the number of minutes it takes to play and the total number of golf strokes.
Smith will get everything started with a free speed golf clinic before the individual 9-hole competition gets under way. Individual play begins after Smith tees off. Aikman will kick off the Corporate Challenge after lunch at 1 p.m.
Participating corporations will have two players, each playing one of the course's nine holes.
