The Dallas Cowboys obviously thought Greg Hardy was worth the controversy he’d bring and the money he’d command, as they signed him to a one-year, $11.3 million deal a week ago. The Seattle Seahawks, who were also reportedly in the running for Hardy, ultimately did not.
Seahawks general manager John Schneider said this week that Hardy’s legal troubles played a significant role in their decision to not pursue the 2013 Pro Bowler.
“Absolutely, yeah. Yes,” Schneider told Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times. “That was the primary thing.”
According to Schneider, their decision became all the easier when they took the financial question into account.
“It was like, you have the background, you are trying to get more and more background on it, the situation itself and then when we found out what his level of compensation was going to be it was pretty easy for us to just walk away from it,” he said.
