Scandrick Will Start Against New York

Mike Jenkins recorded two tackles, and was a questionable illegal contact call away from an interception, in front of his family and friends in South Florida last week, as he got the start at corner.

Now, it's Orlando Scandrick's turn to prove he can equal, or surpass this effort.

The Fort Worth Star Telegram has reported that Scandrick will get the starting nod opposite Terence Newman against New York on Sunday night.

“Of course, it means everything to me,” Scandrick said in the report. “I just want to come out this game and make a lot of plays and just stand out and win.”

The two sophomore corners spent training camp embroiled in the most intriguing position battle in San Antonio, so intriguing and so competitive, in fact, that no winner could be decided. Until a clear winner emerges, the two will alternate starts. Jenkins got the first start, in part at least, because he was raised in southern Florida, not far from the Tampa-St. Petersburg area.

Scandrick will be charged with facing Mario Manningham and Steve Smith on Sunday, a game expected to exceed 100,000 in attendance.
