SI Mock: Dallas Takes Notre Dame DT Louis Nix III

Nix could help shore up an aging and often banged up defensive line

SI.com released their fourth and latest mock draft last week, and they have the Dallas Cowboys addressing the defensive front in the first round.

At No. 17, Sports Illustrated’s Chris Burke has the Cowboys landing Notre Dame defensive tackle Louis Nix III (pictured hugging former Irish teammate, Manti Te'o), a monster of a man who could provide an immediate impact for a group that was absolutely devastated by injuries, early and often, in 2013.

“With or without Monte Kiffin running the defense, the Cowboys would be wise to add someone like Nix,

" Burke writes. "The massive 340-pound tackle simply plugs up the middle, be it from the 1-tech or directly over the center. Impending free agent Jason Hatcher may be on his way out, so finding Nix here could be even more of a boon.”

The latest ESPN mock, as you might remember from last week, has Dallas shoring up the secondary and taking Alabama safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix with their top pick. In this SI mock though, Clinton-Dix comes off the board three picks before Dallas goes on the clock at No. 14 (the Chicago Bears).
