Ryan Williams Ready for Thursday Night

Williams hasn't played in a game since the final week of the preseason last year

The preseason is the time for guys like running back Ryan Williams to make an impression, and Williams knows it.

Williams hasn’t played in a game since the Cardinals’ final preseason game last year. He insists he was healthy, after missing 11 games with a shoulder injury the year before and his entire rookie season with a torn patella tendon, but Arizona limited him to practice work all season.

I’ve been waiting for Thursday since I signed,” Williams said, via the team’s official website. “I’m just ready to get back out there. I’m ready to show these guys what they brought in.”

Williams has no delusions about his role on the team at this point, but he feels he’s capable of jumping in the rotation without the level of play dropping off from, say, DeMarco Murray or Lance Dunbar.

“I know what I got myself into,” Williams said. “DeMarco’s the guy, Lance is the established backup guy, so reps are a little bit limited. But I try to make the best of them with the group that I’m in. Thursday, I’ll be able to be out there a lot more, get my feet wet a lot more, and I plan to make plays, man.”
