Romo Named Favorite For American Century Championship

The celebrity golf tourney will be held from July 17-22 in Lake Tahoe

Cowboys’ quarterback Tony Romo has already won one golf tournament this offseason, and if the bookmakers have it right, he could add another win next weekend at Lake Tahoe.

According to Harrah’s Sportsbook, by way of ESPN Dallas, Romo is the favorite to win the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament at 5-2. He has finished second in the tourney three years in a row, and earlier this year, he won the Badgerland Invitational, an amateur tournament held in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Of course, Romo hasn’t been golfing as much this offseason, as compared to offseasons past. He opted against trying to qualify for the US Open or the Byron Nelson, both tourneys that he usually makes a run at--at least, if they don’t conflict with Dallas’s offseason workout schedule.

Romo won’t be the only Cowboy hitting the links next week: receiver Miles Austin and tight end Jason Witten will be on-hand as well, as will Ring of Honor member/Hall of Famer/All-Time Leading Rusher Emmitt Smith.

Joining Romo from the fraternity of current NFL QBs will be Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers and Buffalo’s Ryan Fitzpatrick.

The American Century Championship will be held from July 17-22.
