Romo, Murray & Witten Join Garrett for Duke Trip

Jason Garrett is leading some Cowboys veterans on a trip to spend time with the Duke basketball team

For the second time in as many years, Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett is traveling to Durham, North Carolina to spend time with Duke men’s basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski--and this time, he’s bringing some company with him.

Quarterback Tony Romo has been on the trip before, but joining he and Garrett this year is tight end Jason Witten and running back DeMarco Murray.

Garrett has made something of a habit of devoting part of his offseason visiting coaches in football and out. In the past, he’s paid visits to the New York Yankees’ Joe Girardi and the Alabama Crimson Tide’s Nick Saban.

“That’s a big part of what we do, encouraging our coaches to really be thoughtful about taking a trip,” Garrett said, per Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas. “We call it, ‘one-day learning excursions.’ Go somewhere in football, outside of football, in town, out of town and try to spend some time with somebody who has been successful in what they do and hopefully we can learn from and come back and grow as an individual.”
