Rolando McClain Keeps Impressing

McClain had 11 tackles in the Sunday night win over the New York Giants

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is understandably thrilled with what he’s seen this year out of Rolando McClain, who was pulled out of retirement by the team this offseason after middle linebacker Sean Lee suffered a season-ending ACL tear in training camp.

Since the signing, McClain has been better than anyone could’ve expected. So far this season, he has 55 tackles, a sack and two interceptions.

Rolando is a force on the field,” Jones said this week, per the Dallas Morning News. “He was the eight pick in the draft. He plays like that.”

On Sunday night, McClain recorded 11 tackles, including two for a loss. He also cemented the Dallas win by stopping Giants running back Rashad Jennings short on a 4th-and-2 late in the fourth quarter.

“He’s an impact player, and I mean that both ways. He impacts our defense,” Jones said. “We’re a better team when we’ve got him and boy he impacts the imposing team when he’s out there playing against them. He’s a load, and they know he’s in the game. It’s comforting--you feel better about your middle, you feel better about your overall physicalness of your defense--when you’ve got Rolando out there.”
