Rob Ryan Guarantees Win Over Redskins, Kind Of

Ryan won't call it a "guarantee," but he likes the Cowboys chances on Thanksgiving Day

Rob Ryan wants to make clear that he wasn’t guaranteeing a victory when discussing the Cowboys’ Thanksgiving Day matchup with the Washington Redskins on Wednesday. But he came really, really close to doing just that.

We’re happy to be playing in this game,” Ryan said, per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.  “The whole country’s watching. They want to see America’s Team win and we’re going to.”

Sounds a lot like a guarantee to us, but when Ryan was asked, he backed away from the G-word, which makes sense. Ryan’s mouth has gotten him in trouble before in Dallas (see: last year’s season series between the “All-Hype team” known as the Philadelphia Eagles, and this year’s Falcons game), but even in those cases, Ryan maintains he never truly guaranteed anything.

“I never said anything the last time they said I guaranteed something,” Ryan said. “I know one thing. We’re going to have a Happy Thanksgiving. How’s that?”
