Report: "Tension" Between Ratliff, Cowboys Staff

After weeks and months of finger-crossing with respect to the health of veteran defensive tackle Jay Ratliff, the Dallas Cowboys went ahead and placed the former All-Pro on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list this week. This means Ratliff will miss at least the first six games of the 2013 season.

Considering that Jerry Jones had words with Ratliff last season regarding his inability to get healthy, we’d imagine the Dallas owner is pretty frustrated at the moment.

Ratliff stayed away from Valley Ranch as he went through rehab for sports hernia surgery and, according to a report on ESPN Dallas, this might be because there’s some tension between Ratliff and the Dallas strength and conditioning staff.

The two-time Pro Bowler seemed to hint at that tension on Wednesday, when he was asked why he didn’t rehab with the Cowboys staff at the Cowboys Kickoff Luncheon.

"That's a good question," Ratliff said. "I do, but rather not say. Let's just keep the focus on these guys going out there playing and winning games. I'm not going to be here and be a distraction to everybody. Just stay professional about the whole situation, but everyone involved knows what's going on."
