Report: Some Find Brent's Roster Spot “Baffling”

Josh Brent is facing intoxication manslaughter charges stemming from a single-car accident last December

The NFL is expected to make a ruling on Cowboys defensive tackle in the next week or so, but as of now, Brent still occupies a spot on the Dallas roster.

Why, we’re not so sure.

It seems all but certain that, at the very least, Brent will not play in 2013 as he awaits a September court date on intoxication manslaughter charges stemming from the single-car accident that claimed the life of practice squad linebacker Jerry Brown, Jr. And apparently, we’re not the only ones confused over the decision to hold onto Brent.

Per a report by ESPN’s Ed Werder this week, a good number of folks inside of Valley Ranch are confused as well.

“There are still a lot of people at Valley Ranch who are baffled about the fact that this player remains on the roster,” Werder said on NFL Live this week, via ProFootballTalk.com.

Dallas has said publicly they’ll hold onto Brent until the legal process plays out, but we suppose they could change their minds if the league hands down an indefinite suspension.
