The Dallas Cowboys want to bring the NFL Draft to North Texas in 2018, according to a report.
Per the Dallas Morning News, the team is making a play to host the 2018 NFL Draft either at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco or both. The Star, the team’s new $1.5 billion headquarters, is set to open in August.
After being in New York City from 1965 to 2014, the Draft has now been held in Chicago each of the past two years. Now there’s no shortage of teams hoping to bring the draft to their city and naturally, the Cowboys are right at the forefront of those hopeful organizations.
Not surprisingly, Frisco Mayor Maher Maso likes the idea.
"The potential for having the draft in Frisco at The Star is immeasurable, especially with an organization like the Cowboys behind it," Maso said, per the Dallas Morning News. "We feel it would be a huge benefit to our community and, frankly, to the region. If you think about it, something on the caliber of the NFL draft is really regional in nature and will benefit all the communities in North Texas."
