Report: Cowboys Not Considering RG3 in Free Agency

Robert Griffin III was released by the Redskins on Monday

There’s a chance the Dallas Cowboys will pursue a free agent quarterback to address their backup situation, according to a report, but it won’t be Robert Griffin III.

Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports reported Monday morning that the Cowboys aren’t “in play” for RG3, despite what some analysts say. Griffin was cut by the Redskins on Monday after four years with the team, and one good one.

Further, Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News writes that even if the Cowboys do pursue a free agent quarterback, it won’t be Griffin. Or Johnny Manziel, for that matter.

Although the Cowboys have been linked to Griffin and Manziel in national reports,” George writes, “Dallas is more likely to pursue Texas prep products Colt McCoy or Chase Daniel in free agency as a veteran backup for Tony Romo.”
