Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson is meeting with the team today and will be released any minute now, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, and the Dallas Cowboys have been mentioned as a potential suitor for the services of the 2009 NFL rushing champion.
Aside from the Cowboys, the New York Jets and New York Giants are said to be interested.
Johnson is one of just seven players in NFL history to rush for 2,000 yards in a season (2009) and he went to three consecutive Pro Bowls from 2008-2010. Lately, his production has dropped off, but he still managed 1,077 yards and six touchdowns last year.
If Dallas does bring Johnson in, he’ll act as a complement to the more physical DeMarco Murray, who is coming off his first career 1,000 yard season and Pro Bowl, himself.
