Report: Cowboys Hire Steve Loney as Asst. O-Line Coach

Loney last worked in the NFL as the Buccaneers assistant offensive line coach in 2013

The Dallas Cowboys have made it official with assistant offensive line coach Steve Loney, according to Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas.

The team has yet to announce the move but, citing several unnamed sources, Archer reports that Loney will be brought in to replace Frank Pollack. Pollack was promoted to offensive line coach in the wake of Bill Callahan departing for the Washington Redskins last month.

There is a fairly strong connection between Loney and offensive coordinator Scott Linehan. Loney served as offensive line coach with the Minnesota Vikings in 2003 and 2004, when Linehan was the Vikes’ offensive coordinator, and with the St. Louis Rams in 2008, when Linehan was the Rams’ head coach.

Loney last worked in the NFL as the assistant offensive line coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2012 and 2013. He spent last season on the staff of the Arkansas Razorbacks.
