Redemption Comes Quick for DeMarcus Lawrence

Lawrence committed a potentially disastrous mental error late in Sunday's win

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones believes Sunday night may have marked a huge moment in the growth of rookie defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence.

First came the rookie mistake, and what a rookie mistake it was. Lawrence had a chance to effectively end the game when Matthew Stafford was stripped by Anthony Spencer but, rather than just lay on the ball, he tried to run with it and was summarily stripped himself.

It could’ve been disastrous, but redemption came quick for the Boise State product, as just a minute later, he strip-sacked Stafford and, this time, made the smart play and just fell on the ball.

Rod Marinelli just told me there wasn’t any way he was coming out of there without making amends,” Jones said of Lawrence, per Calvin Watkins of ESPN Dallas. “We had some pups grow up in there today and he is certainly leading the way.”
