Randy Gregory Says He Doesn't Know When He'll Be Back

Gregory suffered a high-ankle sprain in the season opener

Ever since Dallas Cowboys rookie defensive end Randy Gregory suffered a high ankle sprain in the season opener, it was generally expected that he would return after the Cowboys’ bye week.

If he did, that would be five weeks, smack dab in the middle of the 4-6 week timetable he was given upon suffering the injury.

But Gregory now says that he’s still pretty unsure when he’ll be back.

I don’t even know yet,” Gregory said, per Drew Davison of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “It’s a work in progress. I’m doing all the right things, getting treatment, staying late, trying to get as much as I can. I really don’t have a timetable. If I can play this week, that’s the main thing. But if need be, if I need to wait another two weeks, three weeks just to get healthy, that’s what I’ll do.”

Head coach Jason Garrett didn’t say much about Gregory at his Monday press conference other than to express hope that the second round pick will be back soon.

“Hopefully we’ll get him out here in the next few days and get him back available to play for us,” Garrett said. “We’ll see.”
