RB Dunbar Out With Sprained Foot

Running back Lance Dunbar suffered the sprained foot on the same play he fumbled the football against Arizona

Cowboys backup running back Lance Dunbar is in danger of missing the regular season opener next month against the Giants due to a sprained foot, suffered on the catch-and-run that ended with the UNT product fumbling, Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

As you can probably guess, this is a fairly significant blow for both the Dallas offense as a whole and Dunbar himself. Before the injury, Dunbar had been putting together one of the more impressive preseasons of anyone on the roster.

β€œHe’s playing really well,” said head coach Jason Garrett. β€œHe has done a really nice job for us in all phases as a runner, as a receiver and as a pass protector. He’s showing up on special teams and hopefully this is just a mild setback for him.”

Dunbar finished the 2012 season with 75 yards on 21 carries.
