In a weekly post, we'll talk about where teams in the NFC East sit after each weekend of play.
1. Philadelphia Eagles (5-7) — The Eagles jumped up and smacked the New England Patriots, in December, at Foxboro. In case you're wondering, that never happens. They did it after demoting DeMarco Murray and rolling with a Darren Sproles-led attack that also included a Sproles punt return TD. It was a baffling performance given how bad they've looked, but they have the best remaining schedule of the bunch and it can't be argued they looked the best last week. Next up: Sunday, noon, vs. Buffalo Bills.
2. New York Giants (5-7) — Sure, they've lost three straight games, but they still seem to be the biggest threat in the division because of a seasoned Eli Manning and possibly the best wide receiver in football in the explosive Odell Beckham. Next up: Monday, 7:30 p.m., at Miami Dolphins.
3. Dallas Cowboys (4-8) — If Tony Romo were healthy, the Cowboys might be in the top spot, but he's gone, and so too, are the realistic chances for the Cowboys, who beat the Redskins on the road Monday night in one of the uglier wins in recent memory. Next up: Sunday, 3:25 p.m., at Green Bay Packers.
4. Washington Redskins (5-7) — The Redskins genuinely aren't the worst team here, but they're awful on the road and that's where they play the majority of their remaining games. Next up: Sunday, noon, at Chicago Bears.
