Power Ranking: Jones 8th Best Owner in NFL

According to an ESPN ranking, the Dallas Cowboys’ Jerry Jones is the eighth-best owner in the NFL.

Voted on by members of ESPN’s NFL brain trust--bloggers, mostly, and John Clayton--the power ranking names the Rooney family, owners of the Pittsburgh Steelers, as the best owner(s) in the league.

Jones did not receive a first place vote. Indeed, the highest vote he got was third, from Tim Graham. He was left off the ballot completely by two of the voters.

The ranking seems to confirm what we all knew: that Jones is one of, if not the most, polarizing figure in the NFL.

Most around Dallas view Jones as a good owner, but a victim of his own pride and a questionable if not an outright bad general manager. Apparently, the voters are similarly torn over Jones’ ability as an owner--perhaps one of the best, but certainly not without his flaws.
