Jets defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson (96) reacts to the crowd during the first half of a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday.

In an ongoing thread of posts, we'll discuss potential free agent targets for the Dallas Cowboys coming off a 4-12 season, thanks in large part to several key injuries.

    Target: Muhammad Wilkerson, DE

    2015 stats:64 tackles, 12 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 7 pass deflections

Wilkerson has had double-digit sacks in two of the past three seasons and would be a great addition to the Cowboys' pass rush without all the insane baggage of a Greg Hardy type guy. Wilkerson broke his tibia in the Jets' finale back in December, and that could hurt his market a bit but probably not a lot because 12-sack guys aren't just growing on trees out there.

He could be a candidate to get the franchise tag from the Jets, which would obviously make him off-limits, but he'd be a nice target for the Cowboys to upgrade their pass rush.
