Phillip Tanner Works Out for Bears

The Cowboys let Tanner walk in free agency this offseason

Former Cowboys running back Phillip Tanner was in Chicago on Monday to work out for the Bears, according to the Chicago Tribune.

A Dallas native and graduate of Kimball High School, Tanner spent three seasons with the Cowboys after the team picked him up as an undrafted free agent out of Middle Tennessee State. In that time, he posted 56 carries, 149 yards and two touchdowns.

After a 2013 campaign that saw Tanner post just 12 yards and a touchdown on nine carries, he entered the offseason as a restricted free agent. But the Cowboys did not give the 25-year-old a tender offer, leaving him to test the free agent market.
