North Texas Players Attend NFL Draft

    Three football players with North Texas ties were invited to attend the 2016 NFL Draft in Chicago.

    TCU wide receiver Josh Doctson, Richardson J.J. Pearce High School alum Corey Coleman and Fort Worth Arlington Heights High School alum A'Shawn Robinson arrived in Chicago ahead of the first round of the draft Thursday night.

    Coleman was one of the most productive wide receivers in college football last season, winning the Biletnikoff Award as the nation's top receiver. He was selected by the Cleveland Browns with the 15th overall pick.

    After playing a season at Wyoming, Doctson transferred to TCU for family reasons. The Mansfield Legacy High School graduate then worked his way into first-round consideration before the Washington Redskins selected him 22nd overall.

    Robinson was a highly-regarded defensive line recruit who originally committed to Texas before flipping to Alabama, where he helped the Crimson Tide win a national championship after the 2015 season. He was drafted in the second round, 46th overall, by the Detroit Lionis.
