NFL fans will have the shell out a little more to get the highest end replica NFL jerseys sold by Nike in 2014.
Beginning on April 1, the change showed up on the websites of official retailers of the jerseys. “The Elite” jersey, which is the highest end replica offered by Nike and the closest to what players actually wear on the field, jumped from $250 to $295. “The Limited” jersey went from $135 to $150.
The price of “The Game” jersey, which is the best seller of the three according to Darren Rovell of ESPN, is staying put at $100.
Per Rovell’s report, the prices of jerseys are determined by Nike and their licensed retailers and not the NFL. In that same report, Nike spokesman Brian Strong did not give a reason for the increase in prices, but said the company’s tiered pricing system is designed to accommodate a wide array of fans.
