Newy Grades The Cowboys Draft Picks

Did The Cowboys Earn a Passing Grade?

I think you can't fairly judge how a club did in the draft a few days after it happens because we haven't seen any of the guys play.  The grades are really based on if a club filled its needs with the players drafted.  After three seasons you can judge a draft.

I give the Cowboys 2012 draft a B and much of it is based on first round pick Morris Claiborne out of LSU.  This is a one number corner and he was rated the best defensive player in this year's draft.

The biggest winner in Claiborne coming to town is the Cowboys 50M free agent corner Brandon Carr.  Yes, you read that correct.  Carr was the number two corner in Kansas City, Brandon Flowers was their best cover guy.

This is not a knock on Carr but this allows him to be what he was in KC, a number two corner.

Too many times in free agency teams sign players to do more for them instead of what the player was doing for their last club, resulting in fans being upset because they don't produce great things.

Remember Alvin Harper left Dallas for a big deal with Tampa Bay and failed to live up to the contract.  I laughed at New Yorkers who were mad because Bobby Bonilla didn't put up monster numbers for the Mets after he inked a mega contract.  Mets fans didn't understand Bobby Bo was not as good when he didn't have MVP Barry Bonds hitting in front of him in Pittsburgh.

Anyway, I could go on but here are the Cowboys draft grades from others:
