New Video Game Ripe With Cowboys Past And Present

Jason Witten was recently named as one of five current NFL players to be featured on Quick Hit Football, a new online football strategy game, which mixes NFL past and present in a strategic coaching game; it also gives Cowboys fans a chance to relive some of the glory years under the team's most vaunted head coaches, which could be therapeutic, I suppose, for fans suffering playoff withdrawals.

Witten joins legendary Cowboys coaches Jimmy Johnson and the late Tom Landry as Dallas' representatives in the game, which charges the player with head coach and general manager duties.

Dan Reeves (who almost came to Dallas this offseason) will also be featured, along with Bill Cowher and Brian Billick as the coaches a player will be expected to face.

The current NFL players featured are, aside from Witten, Philadelphia's Brian Westbrook, the Giants' Osi Umenyiora, the Chiefs' Matt Cassell and the Ravens' Ray Lewis.

In an interview with CinemaBlend.com, Quick Hit's founder Jeff Anderson said of the selection, "We wanted to assemble a line-up of β€˜core’ players – the offensive and defensive playmakers that really are the hub of a team."

"The Starters will be featured on AI teams of the legendary NFL Coaches in the game," Anderson continued. "So, for example, when you start a single player game and choose to play against Coach Billick’s team, you can expect to see the incomparable Ray Lewis on his roster. Similarly, you will see the rest of the Starters on one of the other four Coach teams of Cowher, Johnson, Reeves and Landry."
