NFL Writer Has Cowboys Targeting Safety at No. 16

Matt Smith believes the Cowboys will go after Alabama's Ha Ha Clinton-Dix or Louisville's Calvin Pryor

The majority of mock drafts out there have the Dallas Cowboys addressing the defensive line with their No. 16 overall pick in May’s draft, but Matt Smith of NFL.com believes the safety position may be an even more pressing concern.

Smith has the Cowboys taking Alabama’s Ha Ha Clinton-Dix in the first round, but he says Louisville’s Calvin Pryor is a possibility as well.

It's between [Clinton-Dix] and Calvin Pryor,” Smith writes. “But they need a safety in the worst way. Clinton-Dix has the edge right now, but that could change after the combine.”

Neither Clinton-Dix or Pryor wowed scouts at the Combine, as they each ran a 4.58 40-yard dash, but they remain legitimate candidates for the Cowboys’ first round pick.
