NFL Puts Kibosh on Custom Face Masks

The NFL is really living up to its reputation as the No Fun League

The NFL just continues to live up to its reputation as the No Fun League.

For a couple years now, players--mostly defensive linemen--have been running out really crazy-looking, really cool custom face masks that made said players look like characters from Mortal Kombat. But that, we can only guess, was too much fun for the NFL.

It was announced this week that the league has banned such face masks, unless they are needed for medical reasons. (And really, we can’t imagine any ailment that would require a 96-bar face mask. That’s not really the point.)

This means Cowboys fans will no longer be able to see DeMarcus Ware--who made the switch to one of these awesome face masks this offseason--looking that much more intimidating than he already does from here out.

Thanks a lot, Goodell.
