The Washington Redskins now have two quarterbacks from the Lone Star State on their roster.
Washington signed former University of Texas star Colt McCoy on Thursday, according to Michael David Smith of ProFootballTalk.com. McCoy will compete with Kirk Cousins in training camp for the backup role behind Robert Griffin III.
Selected in the third round of the 2010 draft by the Browns, McCoy started 21 games in three years with Cleveland--and in his final season with the Browns, he backed up Brandon Weeden, who is now with the Cowboys.
McCoy spent last year as Colin Kaepernick’s backup in San Francisco, but they let him walk in free agency.
