Dez Bryant is really, really good at football, and he's going to be a Dallas Cowboy for a long while, whether it's by a long-term deal or a couple of franchise tags and then a long-term deal if he continues to play well with his head on straight.
Not saying the New York Giants have someone better than Dez, but they have someone who might be as good and might challenge Dez sometime in the near future.
That, of course, is Odell Beckham Jr., the rookie phenom out of LSU who set the world on fire this season with his unreal catches, highlighted of course by his three-fingered, falling-back in the end zone while being interfered with grab against the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football several weeks ago.
Beckham wrapped up his rookie season with the Giants on Sunday with another 100-yard receiving game — his seventh of the season. Keep in mind, Beckham missed his first four games of the season with a hamstring injury and then had three so-so games to start his career. Then, he just went insane.
In Beckham's first three games of his career, including a two-touchdown performance in Dallas, he averaged just more than three catches per game and just more than 35 yards per game. Over his last nine games, Beckham had at least 90 receiving yards in each and had seven 100-yard games. In those nine games, Beckham averaged nine catches per game to go with 133.2 yards per game. In those nine games, he caught nine touchdowns.
To put it simply, he was phenomenal and over that span was probably the best wide receiver in football despite drawing tons of attention from opposing defenses after Victor Cruz was lost for the season. He's going to be scary for a very long time.
