NFC East Watch: Giants Release Ahmad Bradshaw, Chris Canty

Both veterans were scheduled to see a bump in pay on Thursday

After six seasons and two Super Bowl Championships together, running back Ahmad Bradshaw and the New York Giants are going their separate ways.

β€œAccording to a source with knowledge of the situation” in contact with ProFootballTalk.com, the Giants released Bradshaw on Wednesday, a day before the veteran’s base salary would jump from $3 million to $3.75 million.

The Giants also released former Cowboy, defensive end Chris Canty, per the league's official website. Canty, a fourth round pick by Dallas in 2005, signed a six-year contract with the Giants worth $42 million, a little over $17 million of which was guaranteed, back in 2009. He spent the first half of the 2012 season on the PUP list while recovering from offseason knee surgery.
