There’s still no telling who will be running Chip Kelly’s high-tempo offense come the opening of the 2013 season, but it looks like Michael Vick will be in the running, at least. Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles agreed upon a restructured, three-year deal on Monday.

It had been rumored as recently as last week that the oft-injured veteran would be released by the Eagles in a money-saving move, but the deadline for Philly to part ways with Vick (and save themselves $3 million in doing so) came and went last Thursday. With the new deal, it looks like Philly will have a legit quarterback competition on their hands in training camp, with the veteran Vick going against Nick Foles--who finished 2012, his rookie season, as the Eagles’ starter.

"There's an open competition. Michael knows that, Nick knows that," Kelly said, per USA Today. "Nick knew every step of the way what we were doing. I specifically wanted to make sure Nick was included in the plans. I think both of them have outstanding qualities in terms of being quarterbacks in this league. Both of them have started in this league.

"I also know in this league you'd better have two (quarterbacks). So I'm excited about the two of them. They're both going to compete, and who the starting quarterback is to start the season off is going to be won on the practice field."
