Defensive end Jack Crawford has a brand new one-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys, but just how much it’s worth depends a lot on how much the London native is on the field in 2016.
Per Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas, the deal is worth a maximum of $1.6 million, $500,000 of which comes in the form of playing-time incentives. He’ll earn the full $500,000 if he’s on the field for 75 percent of the Cowboys’ defensive snaps; he’ll earn $250,000 if he’s there for 65 percent, and $125,000 if it’s 55 percent.
If Crawford plays as much in 2016 as he did in 2015, he would fail to trigger any of those incentives, as he was on the field for just 46 percent of the defensive snaps.
Despite that, Crawford posted four sacks on the season, good enough for fourth on the team, behind only DeMarcus Lawrence, Greg Hardy and Tyrone Crawford.
