Michael Sam Invited to Inaugural Veteran Combine

Sam spent a month and a half on the Dallas Cowboys practice squad last year

Former Dallas Cowboys practice squad member Michael Sam has been invited to the inaugural veteran combine, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Friday.

The combine is set to take place on March 22 at the Arizona Cardinals’ training facility in Tempe, AZ.

Also next month, Dancing With The Stars begins taping. Sam, of course, is on this season of DWTS, but said after announcing his participation in the show that football would remain his top priority and that the filming schedule would allow plenty of flexibility for him to attend such football-related events as this veteran combine.

Selected in the seventh round of the 2014 draft, Sam was among the St. Louis Rams’ final cuts. He was signed to the Cowboys practice squad on September 3 of last year and stayed with the team for a month and a half before being released. He has spent this offseason training at the Michael Johnson Performance Center in McKinney, TX.
