Merriman Ruled Out For Saturday

Chargers’ linebacker Shawne Merriman signed his tender offer with San Diego last weekend, but he won’t be ready to play in Saturday night’s preseason match-up with your Dallas Cowboys. Merriman suffered a minor Achilles injury on Tuesday, and has since been ruled out for Saturday.

"It's tough, working my way back into it," Merriman said recently. "I knew coming in that it's a lot of work and we'd have to take it one day at a time."
Which might be a good thing for Dallas, who will be without two starting offensive linemen in San Diego--right tackle Marc Colombo (arthroscopic knee surgery) and left guard Kyle Kosier (sprained MCL).

Whether or not anyone wants to see this game is another question altogether. Reports today have several thousand tickets left for the Saturday night showdown, meaning, if they’re not snatched up by 6 PM tonight, the game will be blacked out. Last week’s preseason game between the Chargers and Bears was blacked out in the San Diego area, and both of the team’s home preseason games in 2009 were blacked out.

The last time the two teams met in the preseason in San Diego, the game was sold out.
