Cowboys safety Matt Johnson just can’t catch a break.
Johnson injured his hamstring during an early portion of Sunday’s workout, and was checked out by trainers before leaving the field. It was a “here we go again” moment for Johnson, who is entering his third season in the NFL but still hasn’t played in a regular season game due to a string of health issues, most involving the hamstring.
“You hate it for Matt,” said Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones, per ESPN Dallas. “He’s done everything right. ... I’m sure no one is more frustrated than him.”
The Cowboys selected Johnson out of Eastern Washington in the fourth round of the 2012 Draft, and were initially very high on him. But to this point, despite the team’s belief that he could be a difference maker if he could only stay on the field, Johnson has appeared in all of two preseason games.
